AEMS is currently hiring for the following positions: Visiting Assistant Coordinator of AEMS Application deadline for both positions is August 17, 2009 The Asian Educational Media Service (AEMS), an educational outreach program based at the University of Illinois, seeks a Coordinator who will lead the service in its mission to promote Asian studies through the use of audiovisual media. The position offers a full-time, 12-month, one-year, non-tenure track appointment as a visiting academic professional in the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies (EAPS), University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There is the possibility of making the position permanent, pending sufficient funding. AEMS maintains a comprehensive website of Asia-related educational resources with a searchable online database of about 6000 media titles. The program produces and distributes a variety of publications for K-16 educators seeking audiovisual materials for use in teaching and learning about Asia, including AEMS News and Reviews , a publication for educators devoted to reviews of new media and pedagogical essays on teaching about Asia with film. AEMS staff members make presentations at professional conferences, host teacher workshops, and respond to reference inquiries concerning Asia and film. Locally, AEMS runs a media lending library which belongs to the Lincoln Trails Library System, and hosts film screenings, including the annual Asian Film Festival and a documentary film series at the Spurlock Museum, AsiaLENS. A new and growing project is the Digital Asia Documentary Video Workshop, which trains academic scholars in media production. Duties:
